2025-2026 KHSHL Season Rules

The Kentucky High School Hockey League (KHSHL) adheres to all rules and regulations established by USA Hockey. The KHSHL reserves the authority to implement additional rules or modifications that exceed USA Hockey standards when deemed necessary for league operations, fairness, or player safety.

Game Clock:

All KHSHL games will be played using a 15-minute stop-time clock for each period. A running clock may be utilized in the third period under a mutual agreement by both head coaches when score conditions warrant the implementation of a “Mercy Rule.”

Penalties:

All minor penalties will be assessed and served as two-minute infractions, consistent with USA Hockey guidelines unless otherwise specified by the league.

Ice Resurfacing:

Ice cuts between the second and third periods are at the discretion of the home team responsible for booking the ice and managing facility operations.
